Yoga therapy is a supportive container for health and well-being. Yoga therapy does NOT require physical strength or stamina, a flexible body, or having ever done a physical practice of Yoga before.
The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) defines Yoga therapy as “the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and wellbeing through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga.”
This form of therapy provides an alternative lens to view health, offering treatments that utilise Yogic principles such as:
- building self-awareness (interoception)
- understanding and removing self- limiting beliefs
- chanting, sound vibration and mantra for increasing calm
- creating routine in one’s day/ life (rhythmic balance)
- working with the breath & nervous system regulation (prāṇayama)
- working with our inherent life force and building vitality (prāṇa)
- cultivating a regular personal practice of mindfulness & meditation (Sādhanā)
This is all with the aim of creating health stability and helping to build self-efficacy so that the individual is able to get well AND stay well. Yoga therapists impart their knowledge via 1:1 consultations, thorough case-taking and individualised treatment plans alongside group sessions and guided support.
Yoga therapy can be a useful modality when other options have been exhausted, or when extra support would be beneficial to sit alongside other health modalities.
This is an emerging and growing field within the health industry that unites ancient yogic methods with modern medicine to help individuals regain their health and well-being in a holistic manner.

WHAT is Kundalini Yoga?
Kundalini Yoga is a combination of both spiritual and physical practices utilising specialised breath techniques, rhythmic repetition of movement. meditation, mudra (hand position) mantra and chanting.
This ancient science allows for personal transformation and growth by working with the flow of Kundalini energy- personal potential- inherent in every body.
This style of yoga harnesses the physical body as well as our energetic bodies and unseen personal frequencies to create regulation of the nervous system, enhance stress resilience, foster inner growth and connect into our higher consciousness.
